Off the Field New York Ladies AGM

The New York Ladies GAA will hold their AGM on Sunday, Feb. 4, at Riverdale Steak House, Riverdale Avenue at 59th Street, the Bronx. Mass will be celebrated at noon for deceased members of the association. Meeting will follow the Mass.

The New York women were narrowly defeated by Down in the All-Ireland Ladies Junior Football Championship last season. A large crowd is expected and plans are already in place to coordinate the upcoming championship. New members welcome. Details, Ann Holland, (914) 776-4355

Tyrone GFC

At the Tyrone Gaelic Football Club’s AGM last weekend at the Heritage Bar in the Bronx, the following officers were elected: president, Jimmy Hanna; chairman, Noel Bonner; treasurer, Seamus McNabb; secretary, Paddy McDonagh; manager, John Moore; senior delegates, Bernard Keenan and Enda Donnelly; alternates, Peter McNamee and Declan Colton.

Kerry dance

The Sam Maguire Cup, symbol of Gaelic football supremacy, will be back in New York for the Kerry Football Club’s annual dinner dance, which will be held Feb. 17 at Astoria World Manor in Queens.

The Kerry club are honoring super-sub Maurice Fitzgerald from St. Mary’s Caherciveen after his contributions during the All-Ireland series. In addition to Fitzgerald, the club will honor Cyril Kearney of Cloghane, Castlegregory, as Clubman of the Year. Senior Player of the Year is Johnny O’Driscoll of Annascaul, Castlegregory. The Junior Player of the Year is Liam Hartnett, who was born in Dublin and lived in Eoin Ruas, Templeglantine, Co. Limerick.

The festivities will begin at 8 p.m. with a cocktail hour. There will be music by Shannon Breeze. Tickets are $75 per person.

This year’s double celebrations will include a few members of the recent victorious All-Ireland Champions and N.Y. Junior "B" title holders.
