Off the Field Rangers, Stamford, hold dances this Saturday

Rangers GFC Dance

The Rangers Gaelic Football Club will hold its 28th annual dance on Saturday, March 25, from 9:30 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. at Gaelic Park in the Bronx. Music by Joey Moran.

Guest of Honor is New York GAA President Monty Moloney. Tom Bermingham is Player of the Year.

The Stamford Football Club will hold a benefit dance and disco on March 25 in the Temple Bar, Bedford Street, Stamford, Conn. This event is a benefit for fire victim Fergus O’Dwyer. Details, call Brenda Costigan at (203) 359-3877.

Mayo Gaelic Football club, New York will hold its annual dinner dance on April 15 at the Polish Center, 92 Waverly St., Yonkers. This year’s guest of honor will be Seamus Clarke from Gortletteragh, Co. Leitrim, co-owner of J.P. Clarkes Saloon on McLean Ave., Yonkers.

The Mayo Gael of the Year Award will be given to Michael Ruane from Moy Davitt’s club. Mike, as he is known in the club was one of the people responsible for reorganizing the club in ’97 and was a member of the Junior team that won the championship that year.

Bronx Irish Soccer League

Bronx Irish Soccer League will hold its annual general meeting in Behan’s Pub, East 236 St., Katonah Ave., on Tuesday, March 28, at 7:30 p.m. All men’s and women’s teams wishing to enter a team in the 2000 league must have representation at this meeting. It has been decided that there will be a sub-division within the league — the men’s soccer league and the women’s soccer league. The men’s soccer league must appoint its own vice president, secretary, scheduler and registrar, likewise the women’s league. Any team that fails to attend this meeting will not be registered for the 2000 league.

Westmeath Hurling and Football Club

Westmeath Hurling and Football Club will hold its annual dinner dance on April 1 from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. in Rory Dolan’s. The guest of honor will be Mike Healey and the Clubman of the Year Award will go to Joe Daley.
