Off the FieldAnnual Visitation Parish golf tourney

Visitation Parish in the Bronx will hold its annual golf tournament on May 25 at Van Cortlandt Golf Course, in the Riverdale Section of the Bronx. All proceeds will go toward defraying the ever-rising costs of the elementary school. At present, efforts are underway to provide an enriched computer program for the students. Feherty in Mount Kisco

The 10th annual golf tournament for the Northern Ireland Children’s Enterprise (NICE) will take place June 4 at the Mount Kisco Country Club.

Joining the tournament will be David Feherty, the well-known golfer and the rising star of CBS television sports commentary. He was also one of the Irish Echo Newspaper’s 1998 Top 40 Under 40. Feherty, a native of Bangor, Co. Down, grew up wanting to be an opera singer. He played golf professionally for 21 years. At present he lives near Dallas. Feherty will hold a clinic at the Mount Kisco tournament prior to the shotgun start.

NICE enables children from Catholic and Protestant families in Northern Ireland to spend time during the summer with host families in the U.S.

Registration for the golf tournament starts at 10:30 a.m. There will be brunch, and cocktails from 6-7 p.m. and dinner (jacket and tie required) at 7 p.m. The cost is $375 per golfer. For cocktail and dinner only, the cost is $150. For information, call (914) 949-6492.

Div. 9 AOH golf

Div. 39 of Tacony, in Philadelphia, is sponsoring the 7th annual John Curran Memorial Golf Classic on June 20 at Juniata Golf Club. There will be a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. Hole sponsorship is $50. Make checks payable to AOH Div. 39, and mail to AOH Golf, 7229 Tulip St., Philadelphia, PA 19135.

Mayo in training

The Fermanagh GFC holds training sessions Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6 at the Indian Field at Van Cortlandt Park East, at East 233rd Street.

Calling all ladies

Training for ladies Gaelic football takes place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in Juniper Valley Park. Those training meet at 7 at The Starting Gate in Woodside. For information, call (718) 937-0592.

Young Irelands camogie

The Young Ireland’s Camogie Club, the 1997 NACA champions, holds training at Van Cortlandt Park, at 245th Street and Broadway, opposite the Lansdowne every Sunday morning at 10 o’clock and every Wednesday at 6:15 p.m. New players welcome. Monaghan ladies

Living in Queens and interested in playing Gaelic football? Monaghan Ladies Football Club says it is the answer. The club meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. to 7:15 p.m. in The Starting Gate, in Woodside, and train in Juniper Valley Park.

Riverdale road race

The Riverdale Ramble 10K road race and One Mile Run will take place June 14. The times are 10 a.m. for the Ramble, and 11 a.m. for the One Mile Fun Run. Boxing in New Jersey
