O’Gara out 3 weeks

February 17, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Former Ireland international Paul Burke will replace O’Gara — as he has done already this season in most of Munster’s Celtic League games — for next Saturday’s home game against the Neath-Swansea Ospreys and the encounter with Harlequins at Twickenham a week from Saturday.
Although still a little early to say for sure, it is probable that O’Gara’s hand will have healed sufficiently for the first Six Nations game, against Italy on Feb. 6.
Indeed, Munster manager Jerry Holland is hopeful of having the province’s leading point-scorer back for the Celtic League game against Llanelli Scarlets on Jan. 29.
“It’s hugely disappointing for Ronan,” Holland said on Sunday, “especially coming into the European games next week. I was innocuous enough stuff, but the back of the hand is a fairly sensitive area, so he does have to go into plaster for three weeks. After that, we’ll work off medical advice.”
