Pharmaceutical company in trouble again

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Once known as Antigen and a major employer in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary, the company was bought in November 2001 by Canadian company Miza Pharmaceuticals.
It is believed that problems with the Canadian parent company have placed Miza Ireland in examinership.
Also, a UK subsidiary of the Canadian company has since got into financial difficulties and this has in turn hit the Irish operation.
Canadian directors Dr. Jack Kachkar and Rob Carrigan are alleged to have resigned. Reporters have noted that repeated calls for clarification from the company have gone unanswered.
Miza Ireland employs 250 people in Roscrea.
