By Staff Reporter

The North American county Board of the GAA began in Philadelphia last week with two hard-hitting games in both the intermediate and senior competition.

The intermediate games between Derry and Tyrone had a final score of Derry 2-7, Tyrone 2-4. The main contributors for Derry were Monty Kelly with two goals and Ciaran Barton with outstanding play in the middle of the field. Tyrone’s Martin O’Hallon also deserves mention for his fine performance.

The senior game between Kevin Barrys and Donegal brought Kevin Barry’s out on top with a win, 2-15 to 0-11. Man of the Match for Kevin Barry’s was Gregory McCartin. Donegal’s Tommy Higgins also had a good game in the middle of the field.

Next week’s games are: Seniors, 1 p.m., Donegal vs. Kevin Barry’s; Intermediate, 2:30 p.m., Tyrone vs. Young Irelands.
