Philly readies for DC rally

Over coming days, buses will leave the various parts of the country for the event in the capital organized by Reform Immigration for America. The umbrella group said it is “organizing for a practical, fair and humane solution to our broken immigration system.”
The Irish Immigration Center based in Upper Darby has allied itself with 30 organizations to form Reform Immigration America Philadelphia. The local coalition will hold a rally at 11:15 a.m. on Monday morning at Dilworth Plaza to see off the buses.
“I’m hoping for a good Irish turnout at the rally,” Lyons said. “We’re using our connections to make sure that people know about it.
“It’s very important that the Irish are visible in the campaign,” she said. “We’re only going to get comprehensive reform through a concerted effort and by allying with other groups.”
