Irish pork products, including the worldwide favorite rashers and sausages combination are again to be found on the shelves of Irish stores after the European Food and Safety Authority and the Irish government concurred that there was no longer a risk of dioxin contamination in the pork supply.
It was just such contamination that prompted the Irish government on Dec. 6 to order the removal of all Irish pork products manufactured since Sept. 1 of this year from stores – this despite contamination to only about 10 percent of retail pork and bacon items on the Irish market.
The order also affected some Irish pork and bacon exports to other countries, including the U.S.
