Eleven Protestant schoolgirls were treated for cuts after two buses were attacked by stone throwers on Friday. The police said that, afterward, two crowds of about 50 loyalists and nationalists gathered in the area.
Community workers struggled to control tempers and were on the streets again on Monday after two youths ran into a local Catholic school and poured gasoline over six cars belonging to teachers and set them alight.
The police then rerouted buses bringing Protestant children home and Catholic youth workers were on the streets preventing more youths from throwing stones.
The North Belfast DUP MP, Nigel Dodds, condemned both attacks.
