Republic win Nations opener

The Republic of Ireland beat Wales Tuesday evening at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium with a convincing 3-0 win in the opening game of the inaugural Nations Cup, which also involves Northern Ireland and Scotland. The scorers were Darron Gibson (60^th minute), Damien Duff (67^th) and Keith Fahey (83^rd). Scotland will play Northern Ireland on Wednesday. The other fixtures in the tournament are Ireland vs Northern Ireland (May 24); Wales vs. Scotland (May 25); Wales vs. Northern Ireland, May 27; Ireland vs. Scotland, May 29.
