Ring Cycle: Hardworking young Irish actress making a name in U.S. theaters

When flame-haired actress Derdriu Ring left her family home in County Kerry in 1997 and came to America in search of fame and fortune, she didn’t aim immediately for New York, or even Boston.

Instead, the deceptively fragile-seeming girl from Cahirciveen, a small town 40 miles from Killarney, made something of a beeline for Cleveland, not normally thought of as a city where dazzling theatrical careers are forged.
