Robb stabbed to death

Former UVF and LVF member, Lindsay Robb, suffered multiple wounds in what police said was a “frenzied assault” as he stopped to buy alcohol at shops in the Glasgow area on December 31st.
Robb, who is 38, had set up home in Scotland after being released from prison in Northern Ireland under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement. He had joined the LVF in jail after being a member of the rival UVF.
Strathclyde Police said they are “keeping an open mind” about the motive for the killing and said part of the inquiry involved looking at Robb’s connections with loyalist paramilitaries.
They have refused to comment on reports that the father of two was carrying a large amount of money at the time of his death.
Robb, originally from Lurgan, was convicted in 1995 for his central part in a loyalist gunrunning operation. As he was being led from the courthouse, he shouted “Up the UVF at television cameras”.
Earlier, in Northern Ireland, he had given critical eyewitness evidence identifying Lurgan republican, Colin Duffy, as the murderer of an off-duty British soldier in the town.
After Robb was convicted of gunrunning, Duffy’s solicitor, Rosemary Nelson, successfully challenged Duffy’s conviction, arguing a miscarriage of justice. She was later murdered in a joint UDA/LVF under-car bomb blast.
