DUBLIN – A seaside home on what has become Ireland’s millionaire’s row may break the _3 million record for a house in south Dublin’s star-studded “riviera” of Dalkey/Killiney.

The four-story end-of-terrace house on Dalkey’s Sorrento Point is coming on the market for the first time since 1949.

The Victorian Sorrento Terrace, with views over Killiney Bay and gardens that run down to the sea is already home to the super-wealthy, including property developer Robin Power, film director Neil Jordan, several top lawyers and former GPA executive Colm Barrington.

Prime properties in the Killiney/Dalkey area have become hugely popular – and expensive – in recent years.

Residents who have made it fashionable include singer-composer Enya in Dalkey’s Ayesha Castle, Formula One drivers Eddie Irvine and world champion Damon Hill, best-selling writer M’ve Binchy, Bono of U2 and singer Lisa Stansfield.

With the booming economy estimated to be creating about three new millionaires a week, there are expected to be no shortage of bidders for the six-bedroom house and 1.5 acres of secluded gardens.

The current record price for a Dublin home was _2.3 million for Mount Mapas, a large Victorian villa overlooking the sea at Vico Road, Killiney.

On top of the purchase price for Mount Mapas, the new owner would have paid a whopping _207,000 stamp duty – enough to buy two average homes in the suburbs.
