Shelbourne, Cork City to try again

Shelbourne and Cork City played out an anti-climatic FAI soccer cup final at Dalymount Park where a 0-0 result always looked likely. Both teams complained bitterly about the state of the pitch, with “a disgrace” emerging as the most polite description of a bone-hard surface.

It was ironic that for two clubs, who had produced 14 goals in three League meetings this season, there were so few attacking chances. The replay is scheduled for Saturday at the same venue.
