In choosing the New York Police Department Commissioner, the parade committee has made an excellent choice.
Kelly’s service to city, state and country has been exemplary, his service to the ever unfolding story of the Irish in America, outstanding.
Kelly will lead even as he follows in the footsteps of his immediate predecessor, Mike Gibbons, and the long line of parade grand marshals that stretches back over 150 years since the position of grand marshal started to become a bestowed annual honor in the 1840s.
