“Shining” gets B’way debut

The Manhattan Theater Club will present “Shining City,” which will open at the Biltmore Theater on May 3, with previews starting April 13.
The play was to open this week the Schoenfield Theater, but its debut was postponed indefinitely in August, amid rumors of conflict between Dublin-born McPherson and producer Barry Weissler over budgetary issues.
Tony winning actor Brian O’Byrne was tipped for a role in the U.S. production of “Shining City,” which has won rave reviews at London’s Royal Court and Dublin’s Gate Theater.
It was also to star Rufus Sewell, Stanley Townsend, Geraldine Hughes and Keith Nobbs.
Casting for this production has not yet been announced.
“The play has done really well, we’ve had a great run in the Court and the Gate,” according to McPherson’s agent Nick Marston.
“It’s a fantastic play, we can’t wait to bring it to New York.”
