Sing, sing a song (but not in the park)

Recalling his own band’s early days busking in the city, Stunning frontman Joe Wall said that he thought the Galway City Council “have got this wrong.”
Wall’s brother and bandmate, Steve, offered his own blunt assessment to the Irish Independent.
“It seems as if there is something shady about it all,” he said darkly.
The council insists that the whole thing is a misunderstanding.
“There is no proposal to ban busking in Shop Street,” said a spokesperson.
“The public streets are not covered by these by-laws,” he explained. “They apply to city parks and open spaces.” Which means that visitors and natives can continue to enjoy the music — ahem — alive, alive-o.
