DUBLIN – Michelle Smith de Bruin’s fate is likely to be revealed tomorrow when the B sample of her controversial drug test is opened in Barcelona, Spain.

The triple Olympic gold medallist stands accused by swimming’s world governing body, FINA, of tampering with the sample she provided to testers last January. Her test also revealed signs of the administration of a banned testosterone precursor.

Smith de Bruin has stated publicly that she expects to be banned from competition for four years. However, she plans to appeal the decision to sport’s Court of Arbitration in Lausanne, Switzerland.
