Northern Irish farmers believe they have found the ultimate weapon in the poultry wars.
It’s called the Antrim Bronze, and while, yes, it’s just a chicken, they say that it looks and tastes much better than what is currently available on supermarket shelves.
The Antrim Bronze is raised according to more traditional methods and takes months to rear, rather than the standard mass-produced birds, which are ready within 36 days.
A poultry expert from the Braid Valley in County Antrim said that the Bronze has much better living conditions.
“The fact that the birds graze in open pasture enables them to exercise more,” Peter Morgan said.
“This allows the chicken to develop a better muscle tone with a slightly creamy-colored skin, giving the meat a firmer texture as well as a fuller flavour.”
