Pat Doab is a 35-year-old Limerick native born and reared near the village of Croagh, in the west of the county. He has been involved in sport from a very young age, playing hurling for Croagh / Kilfinny, Gaelic football for Cappagh, soccer for Rathkeale and Shountrade. He was also a very promising track and field athlete with Rathkeale and West Limerick Athletic Clubs.
Doab has always possessed a fierce dedication to sport, and is still a dogged competitor in every game he plays. He has won numerous honors in all the sports in which he has participated, including his selection on a League of Ireland team which took on the Jack Charlton-managed Republic of Ireland senior team in 1995.
The younger son of Pat & Josie Doab (both now deceased), he has one brother, Liam, back in Ireland. Doab credits his parents with his drive and spirit. He is grateful for the encouragement they gave him in his childhood. He was always supported by them in his many and varied endeavors.
Doab was educated at Croagh National School and Rathkeale Secondary School before moving on to the University of Limerick, where he graduated with an honors degree in Industrial Engineering. He was employed as an engineer with the Mid-Western Health Board, Kostal Ireland, & Dell. It was during his time with Dell that Doab got his first taste of Texas, spending a year in Austin in 1999. He subsequently returned to Ireland and completed a graduate diploma in Business Administration and a diploma in Fitness Instruction before returning to Texas, where he worked for Extec. Doab currently works with Rock Monsters LLC (a Mobile Crushing & Screening Equipment supplier for Sandvik).
He is co-founder & current president, of the Celtic Cowboys Sports & Social Club. The club is based on traditional Irish ethos where family, sport, and the social aspects of life are the cornerstone of the community. The club has developed inside a short number of years to be one of the major Irish organizations in Austin, with over 200 active playing members. Doab is a great organizer, and is very involved in most committees within the Celtic Cowboys. He also spends much of his spare time on the playing fields coaching the youth teams.
