Thanks Tom

In what was virtually his last act as a member of Congress, Tom Manton stood up on the House floor last week and gave his support to the bill giving life to the Walsh Visas and a shot in the arm to the Northern Ireland peace process. For years, Manton has been on the watch for Irish American interests in both Washington, his home town of New York and on his travels abroad.

When the Irish Immigration Reform Movement came into being, Manton was one of the first members of Congress to rally to the fledgling group’s side. His co-chairmanship of the Ad Hoc Committee for Irish Affairs was steady and knowledgeable.

Irish America owes much to Manton for his interest, concern and legislative skill. Thanks Tom and the best of Irish luck with all your future endeavors.
