The Center for Irish Studies: A shining star in the heart of Houston

The University of St. Thomas is the only accredited program in the U.S. Southwest that offers Irish language courses taught by visiting Irish scholars as part of its academic program. The center has gained worldwide recognition for its efforts to support and promote peace and reconciliation using the Northern Ireland peace process as a model.
The University participates in the Northern Ireland Business Education Initiative student exchange program and offers its students programs for studying abroad in Ireland and Northern Ireland. The Center also sponsors nine to twelve lectures and cultural events each year, including lectures on Irish language, Irish literature and the Northern Ireland peace process and performances by various international and local Irish musicians and singers.
