Travolta recalls Irish mom’s rapport with fans

“She was hilarious. She took this fame thing to another level,” the 49-year-old “Look Who’s Talking” and “Michael” star said recently of his Irish mother, who died of cancer shortly after he found fame playing Vinnie Barbarino on the classic TV sit-com “Welcome Back, Kotter.”
To make his point, Travolta recalled how when “Grease” and “Saturday Night Fever” were playing at the same time in 1978, his parents drove from movie theater to movie theater just to hear audiences gush over him.
