His band, The Waterboys, was pared down to Scott’s dramatic vocals, and accompanied by Richard Naiff on piano, it combined all the drama of a Tony-award winner.
The group, founded by Scottishman Mike Scott, has consisted of a rotating cast of characters since its inception during a recording session in 1981. Even with the ever-changing cast of characters playing, Scott’s group would later be adopted as Irish during a productive recording session in Galway during the 80’s.
Thursday night the two players took the stage with confidence, to a cheering audience. This was to be an acoustic show, and the stage was set simply with a piano and Scott’s microphone.
The sound was one of the highlights of playing in such a setting. An old Broadway theater itself, The Town Hall features ornate touches in d
