If you’re heading to Ireland this Christmas with a view to staying for a while, check out one of the most informative new website on the internet: movetoireland.com.

This latest site to hit the wires is an excellent place to start research if planning to move.

The comprehensive site includes a wealth of information: from obtaining a work permit to preparing for the change in electrical systems. There is also advice on employment opportunities, Ireland’s health care and insurance system, as well as citizenship, visa and passport information. Pointers on finding the right school for your kids, renting a house, buying and insuring your car are also included.

Also, if you’ve a handy million to spare you may be interested in buying your own island while on vacation. Inishturkbeg, one of the largest inshore islands in Clew Bay, Co. Mayo, is on the market for $900,000

The island comprises 63 acres and the sale includes a modern cottage with fully equipped office. Dominic J. Daly is the selling agent on behalf of a continental couple who are the current residents and who have run their own scientific business from the island for 10 years. The house has solar-powered heat and light.
