Westmeath end long drought

There were scenes of unbridled joy as thousands of Westmeath supporters invaded the pitch at the last whistle of a replayed final that had bristled with tension throughout. Ineffective in attack during the opening period, it seemed as though Westmeath’s long wait would continue, but they recovered to scupper Laois and Mick O’Dwyer’s chances of a second success in a row.
