People magazine recently asked a bunch of celebrities what names they use when they’re staying in hotels, and the answers were pretty funny. Some aliases reflected famous personality traits. Irish bad boy Colin Farrell registers as a Mr. Tom Foolery (for obvious reasons), while Duran Duran singer Simon LeBon answers to Shake Yabooty. Some names indicate who wears the pants in the family, as in the case of Marlo Thomas and Phil Donahue, who register alternately as Mr. and Mrs. Hue or as the Olrams (Marlo spelled backwards).
“Saturday Night Live” news anchor Tina Fey goes by her husband’s surname of Richmond, while starlet Jennifer Love Hewitt gets all nursey-like as Winnie the Pooh.
Our favorite comment — and the snarkiest one in the bunch — came from actor Peter Gallagher, who registers under the name of his pal, actor/comedian Denis Leary.
“No one bothers me if I use that name,” said Gallagher. Well, so far . . .
