Wild ride

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Last week’s tumultuous ride for the markets in the U.S. was emulated in Ireland on the Irish Stock Exchange (ISEQ), which fell almost 1 percent on Friday.

Further turbulence was expected this week in Dublin, as uncertainty in the U.S. markets continued.

The FTSE in London slid 199 points on Friday in a grim day of selling, as the DOW tumbled 4.6 percent.

Analysts and brokers feared a “meltdown of some kind” this week.
