Unbeaten St. Mary’s moved to the top of rugby’s All-Ireland League with a 20-6 victory over Garryowen last weekend. It was the Dublin club’s first-ever victory at Dooradoyle following seven losses.
St. Mary’s international trio of Victor Costello, Malcolm O’Kelly and Trevor Brennan were highly influential performers as Garryowen lost for the second time this season.
Meanwhile, Young Munster joined St. Mary’s at the head of the table by virtue of a solid 18-5 home win over DLSP, and Dungannon stayed in the hunt with a 33-14 success against reigning champions Cork Constitution.
Shannon managed a first win of the campaign when they saw off Buccaneers by 25-13, Terenure pipped Lansdowne 25-24, and Ballymena came through by 30-13 against Clontarf.
