Women’s Soccer Carey does trick for Beal Bocht

After two minutes, Beal Bocht, who have won two straight, scored their first goal on a shot by Varina Carey, who had a hat trick. Then on 10 minutes, Michele Edmond passed the ball to Carey, who scored her second goal. On 15 minutes, a ball came in from Beal Bocht defense, Sohpia Harvey was there to score. With 30 minutes gone the Beal Bocht defense put another ball in, Varina Carey had shot it was deflected off the Velocity defense for an own goal. Beal Bocht led at the half, 4-0.

The second half started with Beal Bocht putting pressure on the Velocity defense and on 40 minutes Pat Thelwell scored. On 50 minutes Varina Carey scored her hat-trick on 65 minutes Joanne Davis crossed the ball in and Jasmine Callendra was there to score. Full-time score 7-0 to Beal Bocht.

Best for Beal Bocht — Varina Carey, Brenda Walsh, Pat Thelwell, Jasmine Callendea.

Best for Velocity — Julia Stiles, Storm Taliaferrow, Patricia Barrett.

Harps 2, Fagan’s 0

The Harps had the better of the chances in first half of this tight game. After 10 minutes, Hillary Potkewitz had a good shot saved by Fagan’s keeper, Kathy Galvin. After 20 minutes Potkewitz put a cross in to Marie Flood, who miskicked and the ball went wide. Fagan’s got into the game a bit more and on 25 minutes Lisa O’Sullivan lobbed a ball in to the Harps goal and Chris Gallagher made a fine save. Both defenses played well in the last 10 minutes.

In the second half, the game was still tight. Both defenses played well. On 55 minutes Alyson Kaye shot on goal but goalie failed to hold and Nora McFadden scored, but she was adjudged offside. On 57 minutes, Helena Campion had a shot saved by the Harps keeper. Sixty minutes into the game, Mary Beth Gazley chested down a ball to Teresa Brink, who lobbed the ball in the goalie failed to hold 1-0 for Harps. Fagan’s tried to push forward but failed to score. On 67 minutes, Nancy Manferdonia passed the ball to Mary Beth Gazley, who turned her defender and buried the ball to the back of the net, 2-0 for Harps fulltime.

Best for Harps — Teresa Brink, Hillary Potkewitz, Mary Beth Gazley, Karen Shalvey.

Best for Fagan’s — Helana Campion, Alish Dineen, Ann Murray, Derval Carey.

Gilligan’s 1 Lansdowne 0

Gilligan’s won its first game of season

On five minutes, a cross by Maudi Lynn to Olivia Murphy, whose shot hit off the upright. Gilligan’s started to pressure the Lansdowne defense and on 15 minutes Theresa Doyle sent a ball to Catherine Donoghue, who held it up, passed it back to Lupe Hernandez, who shot from 15 yards to the back of the net. Lansdowne had a shot on goal by Ann Marie that went just wide. Half-time score Gilligan’s 1-0.

The second half started with Gilligan’s pressing forward, coming close with touches from Catherine Donoghue and Olivia Murphy. Lansdowne had shots on goal, with Robin Wegner, Bernie Boyle going close. There was good play from both defenses, who kept the game tight.

Best for Gilligan’s — Sheila Lynett, Theresa Doyle, Catherine Donoghue, Lupe Hernandez.

Best for Lansdowne — Robin Wegner, Bernie Boyle, Mary Beth Lynch.

The Fionas vs. Parlour Mom’s game will be rescheduled. There are no games next week due to Easter. The schedule for April 29 is as follows: 10 a.m., Lansdowne vs. Fagan’s and Beal Bocht vs. Parlour Moms; 11:30 a.m., Gilligan’s vs. Velocity and Harps vs. Fionas.
