Shane Moynagh was true to his word.

As the Cavan man surveyed his Woodside bakery and restaurant after they were destroyed by fire last month, he vowed to be back in business as soon as he could.

On Monday, Shane’s Bakery, on 61st Street, opened its doors again.

In the fire, which started before 8 a.m. on May 1, a number of businesses were destroyed, among them a Mexican restaurant, formerly the former Woodside Steakhouse, the latter which was run by another Cavan man, Pat Cahill; a Columbian bakery; a jewelry store; a beauty parlor, and a one-hour photo shop.

Shane’s Bakery was not as badly damaged as the other buildings — a wall kept the fire from engulfing the premises — but its roof did fall in. The other buildings have been demolished and barricaded off since the fire.

The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined. "It’s still under investigation," a New York Fire Department spokesman told the Echo Tuesday.
