The proudest moment of my career: Proudly running the oldest original bar and restaurant in New York City and maintaining a history which has lasted over 148 years. Also providing continuing employment for some 50 people in hard economic times.

Biography: Gary Egan was born in 1967 in Dublin and first came to New York in 1987 for a summer on J1 student work visa, this while studying at Trinity college Dublin. He stumbled upon Pete’s Tavern and began to work as a waiter and bartender in New York’s oldest original bar. Egan worked his way up through the ranks and now controls all of the day to day running of this busy Gramercy Park landmark.
