Biography: James T. Cryan, is the Son of Mary and John F. Cryan, a native of Baslick, Castlerea, who was a former Essex county NJ Sheriff. Jim’s maternal grandparents trace their roots to County Donegal. The youngest of seven children, Jim was born in the Vailsburg section of Newark and raised in South orange, NJ. He is a graduate of Columbia High School and married to the former Noreen McCarthy, who is employed by the Essex County Board of Elections. He open the 2005 Castlerea Rose Festival and was co-chair of the 2006 County Roscommon Society of New York Dinner Dance. A yearly visitor to Ireland, he is well known for his generous support of Roscommon activities and organizations. A successful businessman, Jimmy is the proprietor of Cryans Beef and Ale House in South Orange NJ. Cryans Beef and Ale House has been the home away from home for many Irish Immigrants. He is the Commissioner of the South Orange Parking Authority and has been honored by many civic and community groups for his charitable works including the South Orange Lions Club, The Jespy House, a home for disabled youth, Project Children, the South Orange Rescue Squad and numerous Law Enforcement organizations in the North Jersey Are.
