Job Description: I am the Commanding Officer of the Fifth Precinct. This precinct encompasses Chinatown, Little Italy, and parts of SoHo. My main concern is to protect and assist the residents of the Fifth Precinct, as well as the tourists who visit the Fifth Precinct.

Why I chose this career: Growing up in the Bronx, I always felt that I had a vested interest in the well-being of the city and its people. I could think of no better way to serve that interest than joining the New York City

Police Department. My older brother had chosen this profession and, having seen the day-to-day impact that he had made through his service, I knew that this would be my career. It is truly a rewarding experience.

The proudest moment of my career: The proudest moment of my career was becoming the Commanding Officer of the Fifth Precinct. It is the most rewarding as well as the most challenging.

I celebrate my Irish heritage by: My parents emigrated from Ireland in the late 1950s. My father, Jimmy, is from Kilkenny and my mother, Bridie, is from Connemara. Growing up, we attended many feis gathering for both

music and dancing. My daughter Kathleen is currently in Irish dancing. I also watch the Irish Football and hurling games from Ireland. Both my wife and I try to instill in our kids the importance of our Irish heritage.
