Micheal-Diskin

Michael Diskin

Age: 46

Place of birth: Inwood, NYC.

Where you live: Rockland County, NY

Job Description: Detective NYPD assigned to the 44th Precinct in the Bronx.

Why I chose this career: It was a way to meet lots of interesting people and try to help make a difference for some people. It was also a steady job.

The proudest moment of my career: It’s hard to pick just one moment. I’m proud that I’m still an active detective making arrests. Any time you can make an arrest, especially in the case of a homicide, you help bring some closure to the victim’s family.

I celebrate my Irish heritage by: I have lots of family that I’m close with still living in Galway and Cavan. I try to go to Ireland at least once a year to visit. I have also brought my two kids to Ireland often to let them learn where they came from and experience different Irish traditions. They both love going over and are close with their cousins. My son also enjoys playing Gaelic Football for Rockland GAA.
