BEAL BOCHT 1, SEAN OG’S 0
Beal Bocht, who have allowed only two goals this season, were missing their regular keeper Trish Halonen due to a back injury, so Sue Hannon stepped in and did a great job of dealing with Sean Og’s attack. The conditions affected the speed and quality of the play, but both teams fought hard for the entire match and played a tough, scoreless first half.
The second half started with a nil all score. Sean Og’s quick and aggressive offense continued to harass the Beal Bocht’s defense, but the Beal were able to contain them and not let them score thanks to a great team effort. The Beal Bocht offense, led by Pauline Devlin and Mary McEvoy, had some great passing sequences and some close shots, but Sean Og’s keeper managed to get to the ball and keep An Beal Bocht from scoring.
Sophia Harvey’s goal for the Beal Bocht came late in the second half off a direct kick from Devlin, the league’s top scorer this season. Devlin’s free was deflected by Sean Og’s keeper, but Harvey was there to put the ball in the net.
