‘Blaggers’ for NYC Fringe fest

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Crime is the only option for four Dublin friends, the lead characters of “Blaggers,” a new play by Ciaran Creagh, and starring Macdara Deery, which will run at this year’s New York City Fringe Festival.

With the help of an inside man, Johnny, Mickser, Sammy and Kylie rob the local dole office. Plots within plots complicate the plan as the four become corrupted by their own greed.

The play has been described as “Reservoir Dogs meets the Commitments.”

“Blaggers,” which runs about two hours, will run Sunday, Aug. 18, at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 20, at 3 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 4 p.m., Friday, Aug. 23, at 9 p.m., and Saturday, Aug. 24, at 4:15 p.m. at the Harry DeJur Playhouse, 466 Grand St., Manhattan.
