Camogie Boston Emeralds trip up Young Irelands

February 16, 2011

By Staff Reporter

Young Irelands suffered one of their rare camogie losses at Paddy’s Field on Sunday. Boston’s Emerald Isle toppled them, 2-9 to 2-3.

This was a game that the Young Irelands sporting many new faces never got on terms with. The Young Irelands who always play a disciplined and tight-knit team game just never jelled. Emeralds got on the board in the first minute and never looked back. With Emeralds towering at midfield it was always an uphill battle for Young Irelands.

Young Irelands showed some life coming toward half-time, but in the end the hot conditions told on the New York outfit. This win for Emeralds means that the championship is a very open affair. This should provide some very interesting games for the rest of the season.
