Consortium invests in Irish Echo

Mr. Quinn is also chairman of Ireland’s Irish-language television station TG4.Publisher Se_n Finlay, who purchased the Echo in 2002, retains a significant stake in the newspaper and will remain on the Irish Echo’s board.
Newspaper and internet publisher Belfast Media Group is taking a minority stake in the consortium and will bring commercial and editorial synergies to the Irish Echo, both the newspaper and its website, www.irishecho.com.
Commenting on the consortium’s investment, Peter Quinn said that the new investors would bring a wealth of experience and talent from both sides of the Atlantic to the newspaper.
“The Irish Echo has always been at the heart of Irish America,” said Mr. Quinn.
“Today, the relationship between the United States and Ireland is stronger than ever. As well as the deep family and cultural ties that bind the two nations, there are many new and vibrant business relationships developing. I look forward to our newspaper expanding with these exciting and changing times,” Mr. Quinn added.
The Irish Echo was founded in 1928 and has published without interruption since that time. The paper has hard copy readers in all 50 states and Canada as well as a global web-based readership. It is the only Irish American publication to have its circulation audited by ABC.
