Echoes of the Millennium: The Irish-American experience

In many ways, the millennium is nothing more than the creature of hype. For most of us, life will go on as usual after Jan. 1, 2000. Still, we tend to make a big deal out of anniversaries and turns of centuries because they provide the opportunity for reflection. They allow us to look back and take stock of what has transpired, and they permit us to consider the possibilities of the future.

What follows is by no means an exhaustive catalogue, but, rather, an eclectic, somewhat random, compendium of stories intended to touch upon the many important moments, people, and themes in the Irish-American experience.
