Harrington, whose world ranking has risen to No. 6, finished runnerup in the European Tour order of merit and played an important role in Europe’s Ryder Cup victory at the Belfry.
More recently, he went head to head with Tiger Woods in the Target World Challenge at the Sherwood Country Club in California and came out on top by two shots. He also triumphed at the Dunhill Links championship and the Asian Open.
The Hall of Fame award went to former Kerry gaelic footballer Mick O’Connell, while the Armagh footballers took the team award following their historic All-Ireland final victory over favorites Kerry.
