The 1998 American Celtic Ball, celebrating the 10th anniversary of the founding of the Ireland Chamber of Commerce in the U.S., will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 7, at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel.

Jim McCann, head of "1-800-FLOWERS," who has been called one of the most successfully innovative entrepreneurs of this era, will be honored at this year’s awards banquet/dinner dance, ICCUSA president Patrick J. Keogh said.

Dinner chairman for this year’s American Celtic Ball is John Dillon, chief executive of International Paper, a $20 billion firm that employs more than 80,000 people worldwide.

John T. Sharkey, vice president of MCI Communications Corporation, will again chair the ACB Journal committee, as he has done so successfully in the past, Keogh stated.

"Jim McCann provides a splendid example of the many opportunities for success that are still available to those willing to work hard and who are not afraid to try new ways of operating, even in long-established business sectors," Keough said.
