Index sets Belfast’s stage

February 17, 2011

The gathering, at Bayard’s of Hanover Square, was briefed on the work and anticipated future plans of 30 companies, publicly traded U.S. companies operating in Northern Ireland, Irish companies trading in the U.S. market, and one Canadian corporation, Bombardier.
As is the case with the three-day Belfast conference – being attended by, among others, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Comptroller William Thompson as well as representatives of dozens of U.S. companies – the Index is designed to highlight Northern Ireland as an advantageous and profitable place to set up business.
Guests of honor at the launch event included Duncan Niederauer, CEO of the New York Stock Exchange, Paul Verbeten, Chairman of Perfecseal, a County Derry-based packaging company, Ann Duignan, senior managing director with Bear Stearns and John Brown of Merrill Lynch.
The sponsors of the Bayard’s event were KPMG, Invest Northern Ireland and Tourism Ireland.
