In football news Leslie McGettigan’s men continue preparations for their Connaght Championship clash with Leitrim. Despite the recent cold snap, New York are going through their paces at Van Cortlandt Park with an eye toward improving on last year’s near miss against Sligo.

RULE CHANGES
Thursday night’s GAA meeting is the deadline to submit motions to the convention. Speculation has centered on weekend players, as financial and immigration concerns have led to calls for a cutback in the number of weekenders.

The 69th annual New York GAA banquet takes place March 1 beginning at 8 p.m. at the Astoria World Manor in Astoria, Queens. Limerick’s Maurice Foley is the evening’s guest of honor.
