We’re sure that most of our readers can remember a time when putting the words “sexy” and “Irish” in the same sentence would have elicited nothing but peals of laughter. But hey, that was then, this is NOW. Everything Irish is suddenly hot, hot, hot — including the celebrities.
Whether it’s Pierce Brosnan making women swoon as suave cinematic spy James Bond, Andrea Corr casting a siren’s spell from the concert stage or Gabriel Byrne dodging paparazzi during his Broadway run, all eyes are on the Irish, and they’re smiling (the eyes, that is). What, you thought Bono got all that debt reduced because he can carry a tune?
So we’d like to know: who sets your motor racing? Or, as Austin Powers would wonder: who makes you . . . actually, maybe we’d better not quote Austin Powers, this being a family newspaper. Just tell us your top three picks for sexiest Irish man and woman.
First, a few rules. Please vote for people who have some sort of Irish connection. That means Mel Gibson and Liam Gallagher are eligible (they’ve got Irish parents), but Minnie Driver, who starred in “Circle of Friends,” is not (she’s English). Also, when it comes to bands, please vote for the individuals, rather than simply The Corrs or B*Witched. And try to stick to well-known people, since your beloved might stop traffic, but probably won’t rack up many points.
Just to make things interesting, we’ll choose two entries at random and send them a one year subscription to the Irish Echo Newspaper, plus one Irish CD (it’ll be a surprise!).
