He leaves behind his wife, Mary, and his two sons, Declan and Derek.
Gleeson was from Hollyford, Co. Tipperary, and came to the U.S. in 1964. He attended night school at Baruch College and attained his CPA, and most recently was chief financial officer of his own real estate company, Gleeson Associates.
Gleeson was an avid golfer and, according to his friend and fellow IBO member Eugene Flanagan, “had a great sense of humor.”
“Most recently,” Flanagan said, “he was with us playing golf at the annual IBO golf outing on Oct. 10.”
Gleeson was formerly a partner at Moore Stephens in New York, the 15th largest accounting firm in the world. Gleeson was a member of the New York Society of CPAs, where he served on the business committee, and was a member of the American Institute of CPAs. He is also remembered for his charity work with the Tara Circle.
His son Declan said: “He was a great man and a great father. We shall miss him very much.”
Gleeson will be waked at the Riverdale on Hudson Funeral Home, 61-10 Riverdale Ave, the Bronx, on Wednesday, Nov. 13, from 2-5 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m.
The funeral will take place at St. Margaret’s of Cortona Church in the Bronx on Thursday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m.
