N.Y. GAA annual convention

The New York GAA will hold their annual conventional on Thursday, Feb. 10, at the Lansdowne in the Bronx. The convention will be held immediately after the regular meeting, which will begin at 8 p.m.

LGAA Annual Meeting

New York Ladies GAA are having their annual general meeting on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 1 p.m. in the Riverdale Steakhouse. Election of officers and the annual convention will take place.

Stamford GAA

Stamford Football Club will host a poker classic on Sunday, Feb. 13, at 4 p.m. in Hickey’s Bar, 940 Hope Street. Details, call (203) 327-8007.

Poker Extravaganza

Limerick Hurling Club

The Limerick Hurling Club of New York will hold its annual dance on Feb. 26 at Rory Dolan’s on McLean Avenue, Yonkers. Music will be provided by John Prunty and the Midlanders. Cocktail hour will begin at 8 p.m.

The guest of honor will be Limerick native and founding club member and player Kieran O’Sullivan. On his arrival in New York in the early 1980s, he played football with Cavan. The hurler of the year award will go to Eamon Shields, from Gort, Co. Galway.

Kerry Celebrations in Boston

Boston’s Kerry Football Club will hold its banquet of their century on Feb. 12 in Florian Hall, Hallet Street, Dorchester. Guests will include Mick O’Connell, Matt Connor, from Offaly, and Padraig Kennelly, from Kerry’s Eye newspaper.

The guest of honor will be Joe Driscoll of Connecticut, the Clubman of the Year Award will be presented to Joe Murphy from Sneem and the Player of the Year Award will go to Mark O’Brien of Laois.

A family-style roast beef dinner will be served at 8 p.m. There will be cocktails for an hour beforehand. Dancing until 1 a.m. to the music of Noel Henry’s Band. Door prizes include one round-trip ticket to Ireland from Evergreen Travel, and a set of pictures of Kerry All-Ireland winning teams of the century. Tickets cost $40.
