O’Leary says no to soccer club

But O’Leary, a lifetime City fan, turned down the chance to join the likes of Dermot Desmond, Denis O’Brien, John Magnier, and J.P. McManus as a shareholder in a major British football club.
“They wanted me to buy Manchester City a year ago. They wanted me to buy a controlling stake,” he said. “No, I did not even think about it.”
In an exclusive interview with last week’s Sunday Independent, O’Leary said: “I got a letter last year from someone who said that they had 30 percent of Manchester City, wanting to know would I be interested in buying their share. They had heard I was a fan.”
