Bing has filed suit against actor Sean Penn, claiming that the “Dead Man Walking” star is trying to extort money from him.
The producer says that Penn demanded a $10 million payout after Bing decided against casting the actor in an upcoming movie, “Why Men Shouldn’t Marry.” At this point, things got rather unpleasant.
“Penn’s representatives menacingly warned [him] that Penn could not be controlled,” say Bing’s court papers. The actor’s reps allegedly pointed out that Penn “was crazy and irrational.” (What, just because he’s done time for punching out photographers? Remember, he was married to Madonna at the time. Enough said.)
Bing further states that the actor threatened to go public with his own theory about events: namely, that he lost the part due to his recent “fact-finding” visit to Iraq. Bing’s reps deny this, and are suing the actor for $14 million. Stay tuned.
