Shopping ’til they drop

A strong Irish economy, higher incomes, a favorable euro-dollar exchange rate, cheap flight deals and a growing disillusionment with the cost of living –and shopping — in Ireland all have contributed to the growing numbers of transatlantic shoppers, according to the Consumer Association of Ireland.
And the Irish are here to spend; so much so that the Revenue Commissioners’ Office in Ireland is threatening to crack down on shoppers who bring back goods without declaring them.
